paer and their Dreamy Vibe in “Temperate Danger”

LA-born and bonded pair, Alex Stills and Anina Denove introduce their new indie-pop outfit through debut single, Temperate Danger — an alluring and confrontational ode to our inner saboteurs, who tend to emerge when “gardens are green.” Driven by dreamy, haunting vocals, and sonic grey areas between beautiful and messy, terrifying and freeing, the song was born from the frustration and agony of never feeling completely secure, and yearning to break out from an unending state of temperate danger. Beyond a fervent story of anxiety emanating from old wounds, the song is also a poignant cry for what paer needed in the music industry: a safe harbor free from a harsh, demanding, algorithm-centered culture that perpetuates self doubt in its artists.

Temperate Danger is the first of three singles paer is set to release this year and opens a portal into their world and what’s to come: heart-led, cinematic arrangements, playful and sincere melodies, and a reimagining of themes of loss and grief, upheavals and transformation that never fit neatly into a single genre. While paer makes their debut as artists and producers in 2025, this project is the culmination of years of collaboration between friends that can be heard in its confident play with sound and structure as they bring themselves and listeners to new personal depths.

Temperate Danger was produced by paer and Mike De Luccia (Valley Queen, Cosmo Gold, Coolhand Jax) and mixed by Jason Kingsland (Deerhunter, Belle and Sebastian, Band of Horses). Temperate Danger’s release is accompanied by a music video directed by musician and filmmaker, Emily “Cosmo” Gold (Krong, the film) and shot by Nina Raj and Erik Shute (Yellow House Sessions).
