On March 12, reports confirmed that Sadie Sink will star in Spider-Man 4, and now her possible role has been revealed. Despite fan theories linking her to Jean Grey from X-Men, insider Jeff Sneider claims Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are eyeing her for Mary Jane Watson.
Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker. Sneider, who previously reported that Sink was in talks to play Jean Grey in the X-Men reboot, expressed surprise at her casting in Spider-Man 4. While it’s unclear if she was ever seriously considered for Jean, he now states that she is attached to Mary Jane.
In the Marvel comics, Mary Jane Watson is Peter Parker’s longtime love interest, famously portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. In the MCU, Zendaya’s character, Michelle “MJ” Jones, filled a similar role, but No Way Home (2021) ended with the world forgetting Peter Parker’s existence. This may pave the way for a new Mary Jane Watson—whether from the main timeline or an alternate reality.
Spider-Man 4 will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and could kick off a new trilogy. The film is set for a global release on July 24, 2026.
